Fusion in the world of Dragonball are when two warriors fuse together to become one person. This trick is used to increase the fighters power ("KI" or "CHI") by double. When fused, the warrior takes on similar appearances of both warriors. Except during a Namekian fusion where the base fighter will keep his original appearance.

Different Fusions -

There are two basic type of fusions. The permanent fuse and the short term fuse. The definitions are pretty much self-explanatory. In the permanent fuse, you are fused forever. Short term is only for a while.

In the short term fuse, the warriors are usually fused for about 20 to 30 minutes. For this fuse to take place, the two warriors need to take part in a special fusion dance. This is a dance that both warriors have to perform exactly right, and look almost as a mirror image of the other and they than scream out loud " FUSION . . . HA!". Because, if they get anything wrong, dreadful results can occur. This fusion could be permanent if the two warriors are wearing the Potara Earrings which are earrings controlled by the Kaio-shins, when two people put one on the opposite ear, they can fuse into one powerful being which can be permanent.

In the long term fuse, also known as the Namekian Fuse occurs when two Namekians just touch one another and and other Namek fuses with the other (when 2 nameks fuse, there is a base Namek who the other Namek fuses into, the base Namek will keep the same appearance which he had before but will gain all the knowledge and power of the Namek which fused with him) The Namekian fuses in the Dragonball Z series are Piccolo + Nail + Kami.
